Youtube HQ Shooting

Today there was a shooting at the Youtube headquarters where a woman is believed to have shot multiple people. It has been stated that she had later died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. This shooting is still under investigation and we will hopefully find out more information in the upcoming days.

I thought it was interesting to note that the shooter was a woman, since most mass shootings have been perpetrated by men. Studies have shown that women commit (only) 10% – 13% of homicides in the United States.

When will we see an end to these shootings?

  1. I read an article today that the women was found sleeping in her car the night before and visited a local shooting range before the attack. She had her own Youtube channel where she posted videos and never expressed violence in any way towards Youtue before the attack. The police is still investigating but are suspecting now that she disagreed with the policies and practice of Youtube. It will be interesting to see what else is discovered. As far as this being another mass shooting in our country I agree that it is becoming tiresome and extremely concerning, not knowing where is safe and when such a catastrophe could occur again. I certainly hope not again.

  2. So scary. Someone described this shooting to me as “nothing major” because no one was killed besides the shooter. Isn’t it sad that this is the mindset in America? We are so desensitized to gun violence, that this instance is just a blip in the headlines before we direct our attention to the next mass murder. When will it end?

  3. You make a very interesting point. Personally, when I first heard of this I automatically thought the shooter was a man and once I learned it was a woman I was shocked. I am not sure why this happens but it would be interesting to look more into it. Another thing that I read about the shooter is the fact that her family even warned the police about her hate for the company. This reminds me of the Florida shooting, where there were many hints.
